JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Valid First-Aid card and knowledge of proper care of injuries.
Prefer an applicant that has had experience coaching, had track coaching classes or participated in track in high school or college. Will consider a person with physical education background that includes track.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (to include but not limited to):
1. Work within the basic framework and philosophy of the head coach.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of modern trends, techniques, strategies, playing rules and procedures.
3. Assist the head coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities.
4. Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.
5. Implement a safety plan that includes teaching of the proper techniques and fundamentals. Adhere to all safety rules.
6. Have emergency medical plan in place.
7. Informs parents of individual players regarding attendance, discipline, and injury.
8. Relate to staff members in a professional and effective manner.
9. Demonstrate good communication skills.
10. Demonstrate good community relations skills.
11. Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship with athletes, peers, and the public (particularly at sporting events).
12. Motivate players.
13. Keep players informed of camps, weight programs available, etc.
14. Teach and discipline in a consistent and equitable manner.
15. Aware of and adhere to WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies.
16. Implement team rules in accordance with the policies and regulations listed above.
17. Direct student managers and statisticians on respective teams.
18. Assist the head coach in scheduling and providing transportation to sport events. Adhere to scheduled facility times.
19. Instruct team members as to changes in the rules and teach fundamentals of the sport as outlined by the head coach.
20. Attend all staff meetings and carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the head coach.
21. Secure all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty. Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
22. Arrive early enough before practice, contests and meetings to adequately prepare and remain long enough afterwards to help players with problems or to become involved in staff discussions.
23. Help in the planning and implementation of both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs.
24. Never criticize, admonish, or argue with head coach or any staff member within ears or eyes of players or parents.
25. Strive to improve skills by attending clinics and using resources made available by the head coach.
26. Examine locker rooms before and after practices and meets, checking on general cleanliness of the facility. Know proper care of equipment. Responsibilities include maintenance and cleanliness of specific sport equipment.

SUBJECT: JOB OPENING - HEAD BOYS' TENNIS COACH – R.A. LONG HIGH SCHOOL
STIPEND: $4072. (Step 1) - $4790. (Step 5)
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for students to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence. The success of athletic programs has a strong influence on the community's image of the entire system. The public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Attendance at tennis clinics within the past four years.
3. Current first aid card or district approved athletic injury/sports medicine training.
4. Prior successful high school tennis coaching is preferred.
5. An applicant who has participated in tennis at the collegiate level is preferred.

10. Responsible for league, team and individual statistics.
11. Adhere to scheduled facility times.
12. Provide for the recording of equipment inventory records, equipment issue, cleaning and repairing of existing equipment and ordering new equipment.
13. Provide for attendance, safety, playing, injury/training room, discipline and performance records.
14. Instill in each player a respect for care and proper use of equipment and school property.
15. Inform parents of individual players regarding attendance, discipline, and injury.
16. Communicate and cooperate with the news media, booster club, service groups, and the business community.

20. Keep players informed of camps, summer programs, etc. available.
