ACTIVITIES/INFORMATION (SCHOOL RELATED)

Book Review Group will be meeting in the library during both lunches this Thursday, April 24.  Bring your lunch and your thoughts on books.  Hope to see you then!

Mark Morris art students will have their work displayed this week at the Kelso/Longview Celebration of Arts. The show takes place at the Cowlitz Regional Conference Center and runs through Thursday.  See any art teacher for more information.

There are a few yearbooks left to be sold!  Purchase one now at the Activities Office window for $55.00. 

Attention Monarchs we are still in need of 2 students to join the ASB Team for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year. We have open positions for the ASB Vice President and Secretary. If you are interested, pick up an application from the Activities Office window and have it turned in by Friday, April 25. 
Apply now for Mainstage Extreme Theatre!  If you are looking to take theatre to the EXTREME,or have always wished you had the time to do a high school play,  have we got the event for you!   The plays will be written, cast, directed, acted, rehearsed, lighted, built, painted, and propped in 24 hours.  Then they will be performed.   Not for the weak-hearted, lazy, or wishy-washy.  From 7:30 p.m. May 23 to the performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. May 24.  Applications available from Susan Donahue at Mainstage or ask any Mainstage student and they can nab one for you. The application deadline for Extreme Theatre has been extended through April 25.  Admission is by donation. All donations will go to Spencer’s Heartstrong Foundation. 
NOTES FROM THE GUIDANCE OFFICE & CAREER CENTER
Attention all Mainstage seniors:  applications for the Dana Brown Mainstage Theatre scholarship and the Daryl Duell Technical Theater Scholarship are due by May 2nd.  The Daryl Duell scholarship is for students pursuing a Technical Theatre degree after high school.  The Dana Brown scholarship is open to all Mainstage Seniors, regardless of what degree you are pursuing in college. 

 

Senior Baseball Players!  A new $1000 scholarship in memory of Dave “COACH” Orzel is now available.  Deadline is 5/23. Career Center has applications.

Seniors: $4000!!!!  Longview Pioneer Lions Club is offering $2000 for a Vocational Application and another $2000 for The Don Peck Memorial Scholarship.  AND the Longview Noon Rotaryis offering a scholarship!!!  Applications available in the Career Center.

Two jobs are open locally for qualified students 16 and older:  one at the Longview School District Administrative Office and one working for a Real Estate Office APR, Inc.  Information  available in the Career Center.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPTIONS:

10-15 Volunteers needed for the Kids Fish-In at Lake Sacajawea on Martin’s Dock on Saturday, April 26, 7:30am-3pm.  Help with rod and reel set up and repair.  Hand out rods/reels.  Help kids fish and net fish.  Sign up in the Career Center today.  Contact Steve at Parks and Rec for more info 442.5407.

The Ash Kicker Charity Fundraiser is coming up on May 17th and they are in need of volunteers.  This will be a fun way to earn your community service points.  Sign up in the Career Center to help on the 16th with set-up, the 17th at the event, or the 18th with clean-up. 

 

ACTIVITIES/INFORMATION (NON-SCHOOL RELATED)

The Cowlitz Black Bears minor league baseball team is looking for students to intern with them this summer.  Interns will perform a variety of tasks in an array of areas such as:  ticket sales & operations, merchandising, corporate sales & services, marketing, and stadium operations.  Interns will be learning while working with the manager & staff & will also have the opportunity to manage their own team!  If you are interested and would like more information, contact General Manager Jim Appleby at 360.577.5698 or jappleby@cowlitzblackbears.com

Youth & Family Link is holding open gym every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Come join the fun.  No cost!
