Happy Kids Dental parking lot art winners

Several of Mrs. Donavan-HopkinsMedia/Leadership students showed up at Happy Kids Dentistry on Saturday, May 3rd to work for 3+ hours on a parking lot painting.  Out of 22 schools (including several high schools), our kids won first!  Yea! Shown in the top picture are Aubree Hopkins, Kaesha Mertes-Wright, Ariana Preciado, Sophie Bilger, Kolby Spicer, Gabby Bennett, (Dentist), Jeremy Snyder, Trista Ojalehto, Kelsey Woelk, Tanner Vaillencourt, Tyeson Gamble, Scout Wilson, Aili Huhta, Jaden Blain.


 

We have an award winning photographer...

Congratulations to Parker Reeves who won 3rd place in Josten’s yearbook photo contest.  There were over 5,000 entries from students across the country and Parker’s photo was third in the Middle School/Junior High category.  See page 67 of the book with all pictures at all levels.  

And we have award winning writers...

Two students earned Honorable Mention with their essays submitted to The Daily News. The Daily News recently did a feature in their Lifestyle section called Through My Eyes. As an assignment in their class students wrote essays and submitted them to The Daily News. Zoey Richardson and Sadie Allen's essays won honorable mention and were published in the April 29th edition of The Daily News. Congratulations Zoey and Sadie!

We hosted a family night on March 6th to let parents and families see what we are accomplishing this year.

 

Robotics Rules....

The Cowlitz County 4-H Robotics Club known as the “Blazing Bots” competed Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the INTEL Oregon FIRST Lego League Championship Tournaments.  They received a 1st place trophy for Google’s Innovative Solutions Project Award.  The six member competitive robotics team won the award for designing a lightweight face mask that can be used in emergency situations arising after natural disasters such as earthquakes. Our school hours and other emergency info can be found on the Longview School District website. You will find info about bus snow routes and hours of school operations.

In addition to local radio stations announcing weather delays, you would like to get notices sent to your my email. Sign up for a free service called "Flash Alert".
